In January 2024, Liu Jing, Wei Huaibin, and Li Ke, members of the research group, led students Xu Hanfei, Liu Qiuyu, and Qiu Haojie to the Huangshui River in Xinxiang City, Henan Province, for water sample collection and monitoring. The objective of this water sampling experiment was to investigate the impact of discharge from the sewage outlets of Zhaogu No.1 and No.2 Mines on the river water quality.
A total of 12 sampling sections were set up, and at the site, the research group conducted tests on various indicators such as pH, COD, turbidity, dissolved oxygen, chroma, water temperature, flow rate, and velocity. Indicators like NH3-N and total phosphorus were analyzed in the laboratory after water sample collection.
This river water sampling experiment proved to be a fruitful practical activity. It not only enhanced the professional skills of the graduate students but also laid a solid foundation for their future research work and environmental protection endeavors.
