The Shaying River, a typical dam-controlled river, is the largest tributary of the Huai River in China. It is characterized by a high number of dams, frequent water pollution incidents, and prominent conflicts between flood control and pollution prevention. We have established seven monitoring sections along the Shaying River to monitor hydrology, water quality, and aquatic ecological indicators, in order to study the water environment and ecological changes in this area.
This work began in 2012, and field investigations and experimental data collection are conducted annually during the dry and flood seasons.
